Often the birth gets eclipsed once the baby is born and there is an overriding message that we should all just pull ourselves together and thank our lucky stars for a successful outcome. Which of course we do, but which still doesn’t deal with the trauma of what has happened.
Comment by ‘kitstwins’ on a mumsnet forum regarding a ‘crash c/s’.
The attitudes behind my own son’s birth were just the same, and I can see them being the same this time round too - every time I ask questions about a c/s, and under what circumstances I would be able to avoid it, the doctors just say stuff which basically means, ‘get over it, just have a c/s’. If it’s necessary, then of course I will consent. But if it’s not, can you blame me for not wanting it?
